What is Myofascia?

Myofascia, also known as fascia, is a strong, flexible web of dense collagen fibers that surround and interconnect all of the muscles, bones, vessels, and nerves from the top of your head to the bottoms of your feet. Tightness or binding in the myofascia can cause pain to develop. This tightness can be caused by exercise, habitual repetitive motions, and traumas such as injuries from falls, whiplash, or surgery. Stress, prolonged sitting or standing, and poor posture can also affect the myofascia. Having tight myofascia can contribute toward experiencing headaches, muscle spasms, back & neck pain, sciatica, recurring injuries, decreased flexibility, limited mobility, numbness, and even difficulty breathing.
